Keane, Margaret. Our Children |
I find the artwork of Margaret Keane very interesting
and unique. I first discovered Keane from the 2014 film Big Eyes, which tells the story behind her life and paintings.
Keane’s work is mostly known for the creation of “big-eyed waifs,” where she
mainly paints women and children with hugely dramatic eyes. In the 1950’s,
Keane’s then-husband began exhibiting and selling her artwork as his own until
Margaret proved in court she was the actual painter behind the big-eyed figures.
Her painting, “Our Children” displays kids of different backgrounds from around
the world, which portray the issues of racism and poverty. You can view more of
