Frida Kahlo was an Mexican-German artist who became an icon for the feminist movement all over the world. Most of her works are from personal experiences that she had gone through in her life that she expresses in paintings. One of the qualities her art is known for is breaking gender stereotypes. She breaks these stereotypes by having masculine features such as a uni brow and a faint mustache that she highlights in her art. Frida's art also depicted real women and experiences unlike the traditional art at the time. The content of these art pieces include abortion, miscarriage, birth, breastfeeding, and other taboo subjects. Her art is associated with surrealism and primitivism.
