Name: Georgia Totto O'Keefe
O'Keefe was born on November 15, 1887 in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin to Irish and Dutch parents.
She was best known for her painting of the skyscrapers in New York, enlarging flower images, and landscapes and is recognized as, Mother of American Modernism. After the death of her husband she moved to New Mexico, where she was inspired by numerous landscapes which inspired her paintings. She continued in doing art even though at one point she did not feel as if she could distinguish her own style of paint, but she learned. She painted until her eyesight began to fail her in the late 1970's. her art always described her and pure abstraction.
