Project Proposal

     My project will be in a form of a Prezi. It is going to be about the influence of religion and culture in the treatment of women. A woman artist I’ve chosen to include in my project are Kara Walker (Gone: An Historical Romance of a Civil War as It Occurred between the Dusky Thighs of One Young Negress and Her Heart). Culture is the values and ideas in which people grow up in essentially it shapes the way they perceive and treat others. It also affects the way people view themselves and how they believe others should treat them. Religion will be seen and how the story of Adam and Eve greatly affected how women were perceived. Examples from today’s media will be included too; such as a song from a film which a heroine serenades the hero singing; “whether you beat me or scold me you’re still the one I love”. In addition to popular film “Mother!”, symbolism from religion and it as a satire of fame. This project is important to me because as a woman I feel many can relate or have been in a place where we are often doubted our capabilities due to not our determination but just for our gender. I’m closely to a major of Psychology this would help in me understand the why of people's actions toward women and the influence of the media who mostly people tune in to. I hope to this would bring awareness to what we are listening to and to what we are letting ourselves being influenced by.
