Project Proposal

I have the chosen artist Heather Galler. Among her many works on various subject matters I have chosen to concentrate on her medical related art. I choose to concentrate on her art that is inspired related to the human anatomy and medicine because that is the career path I aspire to be in. I plan to do an art project. I want to draw various organs in the human body as Heather Galler has but Galler has a very unique style to her paintings. Her colors are very bright and you will see that she repeats colors a lot and does not stray from the palette. Her painting style is not realistic, it is colorful and a folk art style. So when I do my project I want to incorporate my painting style in the inspired subject matter by Galler. I want do a more realistic portrayal so my colors will also differ from Gallers. They might not be colorful and bright. For the background of my paintings i wanted to draw them on a newspaper. Maybe I will stick a cardboard behind the newspaper so it does not easily tear and stays upright instead of folding in on its own. The newspaper might have something related to medicine or anything about current events. It is the human body, or parts of the human body that I will be drawing and I wanted the parts to be surrounded by the world. The best way for me to achieve that is in a newspaper where the news of what is happening around us is written on a piece of paper. The resources I am using are the paintings by Galler. Her few paintings in specific are “Human Body print poster”, and the “Original Brain”. I will also be searching and studying various pictures of the human organs so I can capture it realistically on my newspaper.
