Post 3: Modernism and PostModernism

Modernism & PostModernism
The art centuries have not always been like how they are presented in the present day. They have gone through their ups and their downs, and their immense changes from being in a particular range of topics or changing them drastically. Modernism is the change that came into the art industry. The changes varied from the layout of the painting to the certain colors of the paintings started to change. The change would be a difference of color going through or there would be a type of painting which have not been depicted before. The women in Europe took these changes and used them to their advantage because of the “new” feeling they gave off. The women started to depict their inner feelings which are locked up and started to portray them in their paintings and when they did the paintings would reflect exactly how it was. This was a great way for women to let their feelings out and be emotional just like how the world would tease them to be. Society always kept telling women they could not do anything in their lives and women branched out immensely and proved how they could do almost anything they put their mind to. These women would depict theise feelings within their paintings. This website http://www.tate.org.uk/art/art-terms/m/modernism, goes into depth with the "modernism" perspective and shows different paintings and their details. During this time period of "modernism" People would also like to Just like how Frida Kahlo, a famous painter, had an immensely tough life and she painted her feelings away. First, she got into an accident and broke her pelvis and several other bones in the body. Then, she had several miscarriages and her husband would cheat on her which led her to a very sad marriage. There were more artists which depicted their feelings in a manner which they felt very strongly about that.

A painting of Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo, who is depicted above, portrays her in depth painting and how much of passionate woman she is. She has had so much pain in her life yet she still made the best paintings and evaluated the best. Within this time period, the different changes that came upon the art techniques is that there were different shapes and sizes that were introduced into the art industry. A picture inserted below depicts the new flavors of art that was introduced with the different shapes and sizes.

It allowed women to voice their opinions, and because women were not allowed that chance to voice their opinions before, it allowed them to voice it through their paintings. It allowed them to flourish, grow and voice their opinions. However, in the postmodernism society it was quite different. In this society everyone was more on their own and had different opinions and thoughts. The thinking process of some people was quite different than others. This link: http://www.tate.org.uk/art/art-terms/p/postmodernism really goes into depth of how much postmodernism dealt with in depth. It explains all the perks and the details of it. Basically, it was a society or an era where society was able to do anything they wanted to do. It was a free rights kind of style. Paintings such as below started to play in and be portrayed. This expanded overtime but kept a variety of style.

Postmodernism painting depicting many different stories
Even though the two: modernism and postmodernism were seemed to be two different ideas, they had some things in common. Postmodernism had more freedom rights which some people yearned for to live their life. In the figure where the caption states, "A comparison of the two Eras", it depicts how everyone is quite calm in the Modernism era, and the right side depicts more of a freedom rights movement. These two "eras" are quite interesting and are filled with women artists fighting to get a voice in as I stated above.
